Pollinators contribute an estimated €1,200 billion a year to global agricultural production.
This was announced by Professor Nikola Gallai from the Higher National Agronomic School of Toulouse.
Without pollinators there would be a 14.7% decrease in the value of the world fruit trade.
If the decline in pollinators were to shrink even further or disappear completely, then fruit prices would increase by 50% and vegetable prices by 30%.
The biggest problem would be Europe’s consumers.
